What a great excuse to get away...Vince's birthday! It all started here at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage. We wanted to see the Desert X Pyramid that was planted a few weeks ago so that it's in bloom when the show opens in March. We're early birds to this exhibit and I bet it will be amazing when it's all in bloom.
Loved the backdrop with the snow on the mountains. We grabbed some sandwiches and sat on the patio and enjoyed this view.
Vince's last day as a 58 year old.
Looking onward to the next year...
Pool. Oops, forgot to bring my bathing suit. My brain is still in winter mode.
Let the chillin' begin...
The next morning, on Vince's birthday, we arose to this gorgeous sunrise.
Well, there ya go...59.
Thought of our friend Ed Kennedy when I saw this sign.
Wes Stevens playing polo. We love to watch him play, it's a bad-ass game.
The winners!
Visiting the horses afterwards. They love snacks.
Wes with a fellow polo player and his team of horse handlers who take care of the horses (they're a lot of work).
After the game we had lunch at the Empire Polo grounds. The staff at the restaurant brought Vince a slice of cheesecake and about ten of them sang "Happy Birthday."
After lunch we visited one of Wes's horses that is in rest mode after a surgery. We brought her treats and spoiled her. She's a very affectionate girl from Argentina.
Our final day before trekking home.
