Sunday at the Santa Paula Airport

After three days of an intense heat wave it sure felt good to take a drive to Santa Paula and spend the day looking at old airplanes, cars and motorcycles.  There was a cool breeze and the temp only hit 75. Heavenly!

Easter Weekend

On Saturday we took a drive to Lompoc to visit my mom and sister for Easter. The wildflowers are carpeting the earth, the weather was perfect and the cake was really yummy!  Happy Easter to all.

To me Easter is about the bounty of life, a celebration of spring and all the beauty it brings.  There's a sweet little park in Pasadena named Arlington Park that is all native plants and flowers. Everything is in bloom right now.  Perfection in nature and a lovely way to spend Easter day.

The Hills Are Alive

Just a few weeks after a rain storm and the poppies sprung forth to live their short lives in the Antelope Valley. Such beauty to behold. The air smelled like butterscotch and my eyes and soul were refreshed by the brilliant orange of these delicate state flowers.

We had a fun photo shoot with puppeteer Rachel Herrick today.

L.A. Open Call

The show turned out great!  The place was packed to the roof with thousands of people.  You couldn't really see all of the art with all of the bodies in the way.  Guess I'll have to go back this week at a quieter time to actually enjoy the art.

It was so crowded that we didn't spend much time in the gallery but it was still a perfect Sunday - a gorgeous day, an art opening, hanging out with dear friends, a delicious dinner, and we walked everywhere. Love Los Feliz!

A Trip To Ballers Art Supplies

Just asking.....does your local art store have an original Shepard Fairey painting on its walls?  How cool is Ballers Art Supplies in Silverlake?  Very!

Open Call

By the time we submitted our artwork for the Open Call show at the L.A. Municipal Gallery we had waited in line for five hours! Won't do that again but after waiting a couple of hours I couldn't see giving up...  We did meet a bunch of fun artists including one of my favorite artists, Minas Halaj (Minas Halaj Art Website), who was waiting right behind me.  So that was a treat.

They had a photo booth to keep us amused while we waited:

This was at the three hour mark.  Still smiling but getting tired...

Well, at least it's a good show.  I saw a lot of art that I liked and can't wait to see it all hung in the gallery.

Photo shoot

I always take a photo of Vince with his clients after we're finished doing a photo shoot.  This has got to be one of my favorites.

Vince's Birthday Fun

It's that time of year again....Vince's birthday!

We spent a lovely day at the arboretum taking pictures and enjoying the greenery.  With the drought upon us it was really nice to go to a garden lush with plants and flowers and see colors other then brown.

When we got to El Cholo Vince's sister Marla and our niece Cecelia snuck up on Vince.  It was great to celebrate V's birthday with them.

Cecelia was so excited about the grapes that she just bought.  I freaked when I saw them because my mom made the exact same grapes when I was a kid.  They sat on our living room table.  I had to get a picture so I can show my mom and dad :)

TIME CODES

I'm so excited to share a picture of my new painting by Gavrilo Gnatovich.  This painting is part of his series called, "Time Codes." 

Gav compiles info about us (like our favorite colors) and makes a painting tailored to symbols and dates that have special meanings to each individual like our birth dates and anniversaries.  Each piece is very personal.  I love this project and my awesome new piece of art!

Santa Barbara

The drive was overcast and grey.  It reminded me of an Impressionist painting.  We met up with Lorie and Gug and went to the Monarch Butterfly Preserve then walked the ocean bluffs. Later we had a delicious dinner at State & Fig then dessert at McConnells.  A super fun day!

The next day it was sunny and warm.  A great day for a hike.

Kaya has turned in to a really great dog.  She's a perfect hiking companion.

We stopped off at Fillmore on the way home and looked at the trains and did some antiquing...

Teamsters Photo Shoot
