Vacation thwarted but not all was lost...

 Timing is everything.  Unfortunately our trip to Mammoth Lakes was cancelled because of a heat wave.  You don't want to go hiking in the mountains when the weather is 86 degrees and your condo doesn't have air conditioning.  When I booked the room the guy said we wouldn't need a/c.  That's because it's usually 75 degrees but when I saw it was in the high 80's we decided to have a staycation instead.  So...we went to the movies and saw:  "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning" the first day and then went right back the next day and saw "Oppenheimer."   Funny enough we did NOT see Barbie but I did pose in the photo booth.  You couldn't help get in the mood for this movie because everyone was wearing pink.  Even me (unintentionally).

Day 3 we went to the Hammer Museum and got our art fix:

Day 4 It turned out to be a lazy day.  We hung out at home and had a great lunch at The Great Greek on Larchmont and then went to Cake Monkey for baked goodies.  A food vacation day.

 

Recording Nikki Moore and Claire Kay Hernandez Demos

Did a double recording session - Nikki Moore and Claire Kay Hernandez.  I produced demos with these girls a few years ago so we wanted to do something different...we did radio shows.  Super fun alternatives to a traditional vo demo.  So fun to get in the studio with both of them.

Our Fourth of July hoof up the hill.  Check out that smog!  After days of fireworks popping our air is dirty and the real show hadn't even started yet....I kind of love and hate this holiday.  The fireworks give me some strange ptsd that makes me think that our town is being attacked and the air is not healthy for human beings.  But wow, it's pretty!  Next year we're going out of town to escape it all.

San Francisco

 I can't believe it but this was our first time to San Francisco together.  We stayed in Priscilla's beautiful apartment building in Coe Valley which is only a few blocks away from Golden Gate Park and Haight Ashbury.  Everything was right there and yet the block was quiet and quaint and made you fall in love with San Francisco.

We're here!  Priscilla's guest apartment is beautiful, comfy and had everything you could need for a fabulous stay.

The Grateful Dead House is just around the corner from Priscilla's house.  So iconic!

Really good food at Zazie.

After a delicious breakfast we headed out to the DeYoung Museum.

This piece was made in honor of Princess Diana after she died representing the flowers that were left at the gate of the palace:

The art that really excited me was the recycled materials pieces.  This is tin and nails.

This was an extra treat in Priscilla's neighborhood - the most delicious ice cream parlor "The Ice Cream Bar."  

The next day we made our way to MOMA and lucked out because it was a free day in honor of Pride.

The Frank Bowling Exhibit was impressive.  Love this artist.

And was very happy to find a whole room full of Anselm Keifer's artwork.  This guy is off the charts talented.

Nailed it!  Then you see there is a body in there.  Wow!

After the MOMA we headed to Fisherman's Wharf area for lunch.  It's touristy there but you can't deny the views.  Its worth it even for an hour.

Found a yummy restaurant for lunch, "McCormick's and Kulio's" in Ghiradelli Square - the fish was delish.

And the view wasn't bad either...

After lunch we made our way to the Palace of Fine Arts.

I love it when mankind gets in to gear and creates amazing beauty with their minds and hands.

Breakfast at Crepes on Cole.  And wow, look at that match between the awnings and V's jacket.

Hammer time!  Found the hardware store.

We did a lot more walking in the parks and streets but this is getting long so...there ya go.  Our SF trip.
