Big moon over snow covered mountains

 We took a hike yesterday to see the snow covered mountains.  Around sunset the mountains turned a bright pink and then deep purple.  All of a sudden this GIANT moon rose up from behind the mountains.  It was truly magical.

More Christmas fun

Even though it was just the two of us we still enjoyed Christmas day.  We opened presents, cooked, took a walk around the lake, watched some fun shows, talked to a bunch of friends and family.  I feel so fortunate that we're safe and sane during this pandemic.  It was hard not seeing my mom and family for the holiday but hopefully next year we'll all be together.

Cookies

I love making cookies and handing out to friends.  This year we stayed home so my neighbors got lots of cookies :)

 

Two more days to go

Molasses cookies are yummy!

Vince requested I make molasses cookies and since I didn't really know what they'd taste like (I probably only had a molasses cookie once in my life) I found a recipe called "Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies." The cookie reviews said something about these cookies being just like how Grandma used to make them. I don't believe either of my grandmothers made molasses cookies but I'm happy to say...they came out great! If you flatten them they come out like ginger snaps and if you leave them in a ball and bake them they are fluffy yummy cookies. Call me old fashioned, but I love these.
