Easter Weekend Funtime

Started off the holiday by making coconut cupcakes.  Yummy!  I quickly gave a bunch of them away so that I wouldn't eat them all...

Spent a lovely day at Descanso Gardens.  Vince was working so Richie, Nicole, Matt and I went.  We ran in to these lovely ladies - twins - 91 years old - enjoying the beautiful day.

I asked if I could take a picture with them and they were so sweet, "come on, get in the middle."

Giving peace a chance

On Easter Day Vince, Nancy, Audrey and I went hiking at Red Rock Canyon Park.  The sun was out when we got in the car but by the time we got there it was clouding up.  The wind picked up and made the air invigorating and sweet smelling. Perfect for a hike.  Audrey couldn't wait to get on the trail:  "Are we there yet?"

Nan and Miss Audrey

On to the trails to see wild flowers:

About half way up the trail it started misting and as we climbed the hill it turned in to a steady drizzle.  It felt so good, cooling us off as we shuffled up up up...

Vince had to hide his camera for the rest of the trip so that's all the pictures I have to share of our hike.  By the time we got back to our car we were soaked and starving so over to Kung Pao China Bistro we went for a delish dinner.

We were home in time for sunset.  Here's a picture of my sweet Zuri looking so beautiful as she watched the sunset.
Happy Easter!

Paella Party

Vince is making a frozen piece of art for the upcoming show, Comida Y Arte.  We all gathered at Joy and Roland's house to help make the piece and before you knew it the project turned in to an impromptu paella party.

Picking organic lettuce and arugula in the garden:

Some lemons for the paella:

Sandra cooking the veggie paella - the chicken was spared :)

Time to eat:

Everything tastes better outdoors, shared with friends:

Oscar! Oscar! Oscar!

When we were watching the Academy Awards my friend Mark said, "If Billy wins I'm throwing him a dinner party."

Moments later Billy won for Best Editing for Argo.  So the dinner party was on!

About to make out with him.

Oscar brought BAFTA as his date.

The Philly Connection.

I didn't want to put Oscar down but I eventually let others hold him :)

She's My Little Rock and Roll

Our beautiful Brooke Sorenson as Jemmie on Sunset Blvd., circa 1973.

In this scene Brooke is walking past the Whiskey A Go Go and the Roxy on her way home after her ride home ditched her at the club.

She's my little rock and roll...

You got to shock them....

She's my little rock and roll...
She's got some soul....

Yeah, she's my little rock and roll...
(thank you - lyrics by Mick and Keith)

Golden Globes '13

If you want to see the cool pix that Vince took at The Golden Globes check out his blog at: Vince's Blog

I wanted to put these pictures up on my blog because although they're not great shots per se, they have a certain meaning to me.

In this picture of Eric Stonestreet shaking hands with Kobe Bryant you can see that meeting someone you look up to can practically be a spiritual experience.  I really love the emotion in this picture:

And this picture is the inspiration for my next project.  I looked at this old rock and roll guy (anyone know who he is?)  and he's now a main character in a story I'm writing.  I won't give away what its about just yet...

The Call

We had a blast last night at the opening night of Richie and Nicole's new movie, "The Call."  Whew!  What a thrill ride.  My heart was beating so fast I had to remind myself to breath.
