Palm Desert - the start of summer

Nothing like 100 degrees in the desert to get the summer started.  Pulled out the bathing suits and chilled in hot hot hot land.  No hiking but it was still very enjoyable relaxing in the warm dry air and the nights were divine.  No sweater needed.

We met Kristen at Tommy Bahama's for drinks and dinner.  The food was surprisingly good.

The next morning we woke up to this glory:

What do you do when it's blazing hot outside?  You go to the Palm Springs Museum and see fantastic art:

This artist is from Ghana.  I love his work - recycled plastic cans cut in to pieces and strung together with wire.
The detail in this piece is amazing.  Staples and hole puncher - stuff you have in your office - made in to incredible art:

Infinity and beyond!

There was a glass exhibit that really wowed.  You can't really tell in this photo but this was jaw dropping beautiful in person.  All glass.
Our second weekend in a row that we viewed an Anselm Kiefer piece of art.  This guy is one of my favorites.  The energy in his work is very moving.  This was titled "Mary Ascending"
This piece reminds me of an art project that I want to make using prints so here is a reminder for me:
Another reminder:

Breakfast on the golf course.  So pretty and relaxing.

85 degrees at night feels great:

My personal reality - a good book and some Haagen

I kept picturing my cousin John vacationing with us and the amazing bbq he would make - got to make this a reality some day!

Still a little snow on the mountain caps:
